Palma Airport to Alcúdia: taxi, bus or car hire?

Alcúdia and Port d’Alcúdia, in the north of Mallorca, are among the most popular holiday destinations on the island. From Palma Airport (PMI) the trip is roughly 60 km, mostly on the Ma-13 motorway, and usually takes around 50 minutes by road. There are three main ways to make the journey: a taxi transfer, the airport bus or a hire car. Here we compare them so you can choose the one that fits your trip.

Option 1: taxi transfer at a fixed price

A booked taxi takes you from the airport exit straight to the door of your hotel, villa or apartment in Alcúdia, Port d’Alcúdia or Platja d’Alcúdia, with no stops or changes.

Car · 1‑4 passengers110 €
Minivan · 5‑7 passengers150 €

Fixed one-way price, the same from or to the airport.

  • Time: about 50 minutes, depending on traffic and your exact address.
  • Best for: families, groups, travellers with a lot of luggage, late or early flights and anyone who wants to start the holiday without hassle.
  • Extras: child seats and wheelchair-accessible vehicles on request.

Travelling as a group of four, the price per person is often competitive with other options, and a minivan lets groups of up to seven travel together.

Option 2: the airport bus (Aerotib)

The public transport network of Mallorca (TIB) runs Aerotib lines between the airport and the Bay of Alcúdia: line A32 serves Can Picafort, the Alcúdia bay corridor and Alcúdia town, and line A33 connects Port d’Alcúdia with the airport. In summer 2026, line A32 ran approximately every 50 minutes. Outside the direct lines, you can travel via Palma, changing buses at the Intermodal station.

  • Pros: the cheapest option for people travelling alone or in pairs.
  • Cons: the bus stops at fixed stops, so you may need to walk or take a taxi to your accommodation; journeys take longer; and timetables and frequencies change by season.
  • Tip: check the current timetables and fares on the official TIB website (tib.org) before you travel.

Option 3: hire car

A hire car gives you freedom to explore the island during your stay. For the airport journey itself, bear in mind that you will need to queue at the rental desk or shuttle, check the vehicle and its deposit conditions, and find parking in Alcúdia, which can be difficult in high season.

  • Pros: flexibility for day trips during your holiday.
  • Cons: time spent collecting and returning the car, parking, and driving after a flight.
  • Alternative: many travellers take a taxi from the airport and hire a car in Alcúdia only for the days they want to explore.

Which one should you choose?

If you travel alone and light, and your accommodation is near a stop, the bus is the most economical choice. If you plan to drive around the island every day, a hire car makes sense. For families, groups, heavy luggage or night flights, a fixed-price taxi is usually the most comfortable and predictable option, both on arrival and on the way back to the airport.
